The Gopi Krishna Memorial Foundation has announced that veteran litterateur Komal Prasad Pokharel will be honored with the prestigious Gopi Krishna Memorial Award. The award, established in memory of renowned journalist and literary figure Gopi Krishna Khanal, recognizes exceptional contributions to literature, journalism, and social service.
In its recent meeting, the foundation confirmed that Pokharel has been selected for the honor under the literature category. The Gopi Krishna Memorial Award, instituted in 2075 BS, is presented biennially and carries a cash prize of Rs 50,000. The award ceremony is scheduled for January 11, 2019, at Hotel Hikola Heritage, Birtamode, coinciding with the 77th birth anniversary of Gopi Krishna Khanal.
